Sea Otter 2008

Sea Otter Classic - Bike races and vendor exhibition at Laguna Seca Raceway - Monterey California.
Yakima has an exhibitors booth at the show and some of the guys were racing. Most of the focus of the show is mountain / downhill and freeride bikes.
We (Chris, Dylan, Dave, Joe and myself) headed down there on Thursday, drove down in one of the team cars with 7 bikes on top! The marketing guys rented a house in Pebble Beach and we crashed the place. All in all good time apart from the 14hr drive!
I managed to ride some cool roads along the coast in between the show.

Here's the car getting loaded up - Click the picture for more images.

De Ronde Van Oeste- Sat Ride

This was one of the toughest road rides I have done, there were about 250 riders. It was only tough because of the hills. The course was only 45miles long but about 30-35 of these miles were uphill. At the end of the ride we had climbed over 8000ft and it honestly felt like a 120miles of a regular ride. We started the ride with a 800ft climb! One of the climbs was very short but it was a hill that would make your car stall, cycling up it required just brute power and not flipping over backwards (or so it felt), of course the weather was typical Portland, on and off rain and in the 40's.

Nick, he rides for Team Yakima.

Dylan - Team Yakima, at the end of the ride.

Dave, the man of steel - Team Yakima

Check out the walkers in the background.

Close to puking.

end of ride, looking disenchanted & exhausted.
