In the Frisco, the san fran sisco

Spent a few days last week in the Ehh? Seef (SF).  Cassie had a baby shower to go to on Sat (a friend of hers in the suburbs), I wanted to take a day off work. We headed out for a jolly mini holiday, arrived Friday PM, stayed Sat, Sun, Monday. Did some tourist stuff , stayed in a nice hotel off of Union Square (read swanky shopping district) ate some good food, walked a lot oh I also I got a deep tissue massage on my legs which almost crippled me! and met lots of Cassies friends, as she has quite a few who live in town.

Cool restaurants to check out that we ate at and thought good of.
Pizzaria Delfina - Pizza / Italian,  Mission district
Velvet Cantina - fresh mex - hister - bar- Mission District
Honey Honey - Breakfast - Creperie -Nr Union Sq.
TripTych - Brunch/Lunch/dinner - Folsom

Lame places to go that are really shit and you should avoid.
Davids - f*in crap breakfast - distracted by nice looking pasteries in window - Geary and Taylor streets
Beretta - lame people, lame bartenders,  long long wait times, super crap.

Bend and Central Oregon for New Years

Went South for this New Years... you would think south would be warmer, but not when going to Bend.... chilly!
Bend is an outdoor mecca for rich Californian's who have nothing better to do than play outside all day. Bend is a 3hr drive South East of Portland, really really small town but has cool outdoor stuff to do around there. Good mountains, good paddling and lots of mountain biking in the summer.
Bend is cold in the winter but with bright sun and doesn't get as much rain as Portland.

So, we ate at a fancy restaurant, did some snowshoeing blar blar, pics below (click the link to take you to more of my snow pics and some silly NY pics)

On the subject of Central Oregon, a local advert consultancy here in Portland made this for a local brewery. Take a look it's brilliant and captures a lot of what I love about Oregon.
