The last night of Portland short track

Last night was the last in series of Short Track Races (Short track is the high intensity off road riding of laps). I snapped my seatpost off in the first race and did not ride again till the last, several weeks later, you can see that last night I rode my Cyclocross bike, which is a little bit of a bummer, since it has no suspension like a mountain bike, which is what is the normal weapon of choice. last night was special because at the end there was a Team relay, each ride rode 1 lap, and 10 team members... Yakima placed #2 out of 17 strong teams!.
A number of our team have been doing really well and took podium spots, Dave Condon has been leading out the Sport class consistently coming in top 4, Tony O killing the Masters 40+ getting a 3rd and Nick G took 3rd in the Experts.

See those nice red Chris King wheels in action!

Joel with his crazy mad helmet.

Sweet Sunset shining out of my neck.

James hauling in the relay race.

Nick G for yakima takes Overall series 2nd in Expert class.

Friday Night Velodrome Night

Velodrome night - rode my track bike fixed to work, to the velodrome, raced then rode home. Some good races, yeah I'm not that good yet due to not being very strategic in my positioning as it's a whole new set of learning. First of my three races, 15lap.... so I went off the front pulled the pack for about 121/2 laps, then 5 blokes break past me , I take chase, little bit of a gap, good job there was a gap, one bloke must have done something wrong...crash..takes down two other guys, I swerve up track and barley miss the carnage. ugg. doesn't set you mind up for the next two races does it. Here's some pics and at the end a link to a really bad wreak that happened recently at Alpenrose, the track I ride.
(Im in the black, white and red kit with Yakima on the leg, white helmet, black bike)

Here's a bad crash .... uggg

New Cyclocross wheels for Me !!

Been a while since I posted and lot's has happened, but prolly too much to catch up on, so I'll start with what's new today... new wheels... yeah...... new Cross wheels just in time for the start of cross season, check out these handbuilt wheels by Chris King, sexy machined and anodized red hubs that sound like angry bees :) This is also good timing since my cross bike has been hanging up in the basement, since I bust - read destroyed ...the rear wheel a month or so back.
